What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit. They allow the site to remember certain information about your visit — for example, whether you have already accepted the cookie notice, or which pages you visited. Cookies cannot run programmes or deliver viruses. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently.

On this website, we use cookies sparingly. We do not use cookies to track you across other websites or to serve advertisements.

The cookies we use

Essential cookies — always active

These cookies are needed for the website to function. Without them, parts of the site would not work. You cannot disable them here, but you can block them through your browser settings — note that doing so may affect how the site behaves.

Analytics cookies — optional

These help us understand how visitors use the site — for example, which pages are visited most often. The data is aggregate and does not identify individuals. We use this information to improve the site over time.

Marketing cookies — optional

We do not currently use marketing or advertising cookies. If this changes, this policy will be updated and you will be asked to consent again.

Preference cookies — optional

These remember choices you have made on the site, such as your preferred display settings. They make your experience more convenient on return visits.

Cookie duration

Session cookies are deleted automatically when you close your browser. They are used only to maintain basic site functionality during a single visit.

Persistent cookies remain on your device until they expire or until you delete them. Our cookieConsent cookie persists for 12 months. Analytics cookies set by Google Analytics typically persist for up to 2 years.

Your rights and contact

You have the right to withdraw consent for optional cookies at any time using the preference controls above, or by clearing cookies in your browser. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of any processing already carried out.

Disabling analytics cookies will not prevent you from using this website, but it does mean we receive less information about how the site is used.
